The Borough of Wheatland merged with the City of Hermitage on January 1, 2024 after a years long process where Wheatland residents voted in favor of integration with the city back in 2022. The merge would benefit both communities, as Wheatland residents would have a decreased 80% real-estate tax, as well as more benefits from the Hermitage street department. Hermitage would gain access to Wheatland's industrial and business corridor, bringing increased revenue in commercial taxation.
