This 2019 article from the Panther Eye student newspaper of Sweet Home High
School mostly complains about how bad the town's flag is but does have a nice

information the article gives is that (former) Town Executive Daniel Ward
thought that a flag was needed (year not stated). A contest was held and had
many entries (number is not stated). The winner became the current flag.
