This flag has a strange status; it appears to be used alongside the flag with the new county seal, as there is an image of it in the Nevada State Capitol (from 2015, however; so this might have changed since then). The new county seal appears to have been approved on January 30, 1998, as seen in county agendas; although it didn't receive recognition until September 21, it was already being used on county documents by then. This flag was certainly adopted in 1964 for the Nevada Centennial, as I have seen it in a black and white clipping of Nevada's county flags from that year. Certainly, it appears it took a while for this flag to be phased out from official use, as Ortiz’s drawing of this flag was created 3 years after the logo change.
