The City Clerk of the City of College Park, Maryland, provided me with this description:
"The City Flag has the seal centered on a black and gold background. The Seal was designed by Mr. Mel Havenner and adopted by the City of College Park on April 10, 1962. The Seal is a circle divided into quarters. Each section represents an important aspect of the City of College Park:
1. The chapel represents religion.
2. The books represent education (College Park is the home to the flagship campus of the University of Maryland).
3. The airplane and landing field represent the historic College Park airport.
4. The wheels represent industry.
Janeen S. Miller, City Clerk, City of College Park"
