A report at https://www.hyattsvillewire.com/2022/05/07/cheverly-new-town-seal/ tells us that the city council voted unanimously in June 2020 to discard the city seal from 1931 showing the slave-holding Mount Hope plantation. Several new seals were designed by the Neighborhood Design Center and assessed with public surveys. The new seal was approved in May 2022.
