The flag was officially introduced to the public on October 9, 2001 by Mayor
Michel at a town meeting. It is clear that the flag was adopted for the Arizona
League meeting in late October.

In 2001, there was also a town flag contest. However, the winning design was
considered too complex and too costly. Town officials ended up designing the
flag.

The council voted on what they believed was the best of the seals. Then, two
others counted the ballots and announced the two designs with the most votes,
Large #3 with four votes and Small #3 with two votes. A motion was held to
approve Large #3 as the city seal, which passed 6 to 1. The entry was revealed
to be from the State Prison Industries Program. Approved at this meeting on
August 14, 1990, with some modifications over the years.
Some information
based on prior knowledge: The seal's inner design depicts cactus and mountains,
part of the natural scenery in the area. It depicts a cabin, possibly a reminder
of Quartzsite's past associated with mining. The "Q" is most likely a reference
to the Quartzsite "Q" mountain, where a hillside letter with its initial is
located. The camel is clearly a reference to Hi Jolly, hired by the American
government to help introduce camels to the Southwest in transporting large cargo
loads. Of course though, this experiment failed. In his later years, he lived in
Quartzsite, scouting for the American government and mining. A "Q" shape is also
formed by the central design.
