The flag is a blue field with a three horizontal gold bars with white borders in unequal sizes. At the bottom of the flag is a horizontal gold bar without any outlines. In the two blue bars are the city and state names in gold. In the large golden bar is a white circle with a depicts of an Native American head looking towards the hoist side. This most likely represents paramount chief Tuskaloosa of the Mississippi chiefdom, who is namesake of the nearby Black Warrior river, which the town is named after.

The seal depicts the same Chief Tuskaloosa head as on the flag. It features
the city name and establishment year, and two gold stars on ether side of
Tuskaloosa's head.
