The Republic (Cumhuriyet) University was established in 1973 as a Faculty of Medicine on the campus of Hacettepe University during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Republic, and relocated to Sivas in 1982.

The flag of the Republic (Cumhuriyet) University (photo) is white with the university's
emblem.
The emblem was recently modified from the original one. Beforehand, the
university used a white flag charged with the old emblem (photo,
photo,
photo,
photo,
photo,
photo), as featured on
the logo of the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the university.
The new emblem adds a frame shaped like a Seljuk star around the
original emblem.

It seems that the university recently changed its name by adding the name of
the city in which it is located: Sivas Cumhuriyet University.
