The Partido Timorense Democrático (PTD) was founded by Aliança Araújo, the sister of Abílio Araújo, the president of P.N.T. The flags of those parties are quite similar.

The differences are the lack of the arrowhead, the lettering and blue for green in the upper stripe.

It is an unequal horizontal tetraband of red, white, and blue, the two middle stripes half the height of the outer ones, with a black hoist triangle (tip approx. 90°); on it a white five-pointed regular star standing on two tips and the lettering "PTD" — the "T" surmounting the upper tip of the star and the other letter lower, resting on its side arms.
