Horné Mýto - Hungarian name: Felsővámos. The flag: horizontal divided
into 9 parts. VYVWWWVYV. Of course with swallowtails /typical village flag.
Ratio: 2:3
History
in English: Name of the municipality of "Wamus" is included in the
list of collector of papal tithe in 1268. Name of the municipality is deduced
from a Hungarian name meaning 'tollbooth' ("vámos hely"- in Hungarian).
On 23 February 1683 the municipality was attacked by three hundred Turks,
who robbed the village, set it on fire and 104 people who were not able
to shelter were abducted to bondage. The noble Pálffy family became owner
of this village and of its serfs. The municipality had 790 Hungarian speaking
inhabitants in 1938 and it had 2012 cadastral jutters (1 jutter = 1,42
acres) of fields. Horné Mýto and Trhová Hradská were consolidated between
1960 and 1990 to one municipality called Trhové Mýto.
