The flag and coat of arms (emblem) of Novi Pazar are prescribed in the Municipal Statutes, adopted on 27 May 2002.
The flag is described in Article 90, as follows:
The municipal flag is blue, with the proportions one by one and a half, and charged with the coat of arms in the middle."
The emblem of Novi Pazar, which does not follow heraldic rules, is described in Article 90, as follows:
The coat of arms of the municipality of Novi Pazar is in the shape of shield. In the middle of the arms, a fortress with a tower and a hydroelectric plant with waterfalls are displayed graphically, a road is placed below the plant and graphically stylized rivers Raška and Jošanica are placed below the road. In the base of the shield number 1461 is inscribed. Primary colours are blue, white, red and green. Presence of ochre colour is the symbol of a centuries-old town.
