The Phos-Zoe cross has been a symbol for the ECC since its inception in the
1980s. It is not a new symbol, but one that was relatively easily available in
Christian jewelry. We flag created it in the early 90's. The primary design was
by Fr. Richard Belotti in Oklahoma City. The blue on the bottom represents the
waters of baptism. We were aware of the visual similarity to the Swedish flag,
but other than feeling the colors looked good, did not choose them for that
reason.

Catholic Church, 20 March 2007
