It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and black . The background colour of the shield on flag is Argent.

Shield Argent, two symmetric, naturalistic parts of a fortress Argent masoned Sable, in chief three corn cobs Or leaved Vert tied Gules, in base a barrulet wavy Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VILA DE RIBERÃO".
