It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Argent,three horseshoes Gules nailed Or set in fess, in chief two keys Purpure set per saltire with their wards chiefwise and tied Gules, in base an olive branch Vert fruited Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "S. PEDRO DE VEIGA DE LILA".
Meaning:
The crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, local patron saint and name giver of the commune.
