It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and green.

The arms are Argent and Vert engrailed on a pile inverted Sable an compass rose Argent faceted Azure and in chief two gallions Proper sailing away from each other sailed Argent and with sails charged with crosses patty Gules voided Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers
(town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE SAGRES".
Meaning:
The green and white waves are symbolizing the ocean. Compass rose and pile are referring to the famous Navigation School of Dom Henrique. From here many ships started in order to find a sea route to India, represented by the gallions.

Sagres Commune is one of the four communes of the Vila do Bispo municipality (q.v.); it had 1909 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 34.3 km².
