It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and red with centred arms.

Shield Vert, a sugar cane squeezer Argent, in base a fish Argent flanked by two scallops Or, all between two barrulets wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "LUZ - TAVIRA".

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.
The Coat of Arms is the same as today but having a mural crown with just three visible towers.

Luz (de Tavira) Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Tavira Municipality (q.v.); it had 3355 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 33.2 km². Luz gained the rank of a town on 12 July 2001.
