Shield Vert a castle Or masoned and open and slit Sable, flanked in orle by two chestnut boughs Argent with their burrs cracked Gules and their proximal ends in saltire at base.
Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading
in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE TRANCOSO (SÃO PEDRO E SANTA MARIA) E SOUTO MAIOR".
Meaning:
The new coat of arms is a modified variant of the only officialised one — now devoided of the St. Peter´s keys and thus made suitable to stand for the enlarged commune.

Trancoso e Souto Maior is one of the six communes of Trancoso Municipality created by the merger during the 2013 changes. It had 3191 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 58,04 km².

Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "TRANCOSO - S. PEDRO".
Meaning:
The crossed keys on arms are canting for the hagiographic toponym as attributes of St. Peter. The castle stands for the Trancoso Castle.
