It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Argent, bordured by twelve heraldic roses Gules barbed Vert and seeded Or, two distaffs Sable ordered per saltire, above a fig leaf Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials "ABITUREIRAS - SANTARÉM".
Meaning:
The distaffs are referring to a local legend of "adventurers". The commune's name is derived from the word "aventureiras". The roses are representing the twelve settlement cores of the commune. The (form of) the leaf is symbolizing the borders of the commune. Draft designed by José Bènard Guedes.

Abitureiras Commune is one of the 18 communes of Santarém Municipality (q.v.); it had 978 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 23.4 km².
