Vila Nova de Santo André Commune is one of the eight communes of the Santiago do Cacém municipality (q.v.); it had inhabitants in 2011 and covers km². The commune was upgraded to a town in 1991 and to a city in 2003, was renamed to "Vila Nova de Santo André" probably after 2007.
