It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a bell Gules, surrounded by eight vine leaves Vert (according to blazon ordered "in escarbuncle"). Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "COVAS DO DOURO" in black upper case letters.
