It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of purple and white.

Shield Argent, a pillory Purpure covered by five bendlets Argent, flanked by a rose Gules seeded Argent and barbed Vert at dexter and a crescent recumbent inverted Gules at sinister. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALFAIATES - SABUGAL".
Meaning:
The rose is representing Queen Saint Isabel, who visited the place several times and stayed there for a while, Alfaiates had been a gift to queen granted by her husband King Dom Dinis. The pillory is a local monument. The crescent is referring to the former name of Alfaiates for many centuries since 1230. It was "Castello de Luna" (= Moon Castle).

Alfaiates Commune is one of the 30 communes of Sabugal Municipality; it had 331 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 28.0 km².
