It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Vert, a trunc Or slightly sinister bendy, in chief a pear Argent in every corner, in base a watermill's wheel Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "AGUALVA - PRAIA DA VITÓRIA".

Agualva Commune is one of the 11 communes of the Praia da Vitória municipality (q.v.); it had 1432 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 35.7 km².
