It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

Shield Vert, a millwheel Argent between two corn cobs Or, in chief a goshawk volant proper. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading i"NOSSA SENHORA DOS REMÉDIOS - POVOAÇÃO" n black upper case letters. The toponym is a Marian appelation, Our Lady of the Remedies, taken from the local Catholic parish, conterminous with the commune and from which it derived - but this not reflected in the arms.

Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Commune is one of the six communes of Povoação Municipality; it had 1111 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 12.8 km².
