Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "EJA - PENAFIEL"
Meaning:
Eja is better known as Entre-os-Rios (= between the rivers), the part having existed already in Roman times opposite of Eja proper between Tamego River and Douro River. St. Michael is patron saint of the churches of both, Eja and Entre-os-Rios, sword and scales refer to him. The bridge is probably representing the new bridge across Douro River.
