It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain yellow field.

The arms are Argent, a cork oak branch Vert fruited proper in pale, between two wheat ears Gules, in base indented Azure a bee Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "SANTANA DA SERRA - OURIQUE" in black upper case letters.

Santana da Serra Commune is one of the four communes of Ourique Municipality (q.v.); it had 850 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 190.8 km².
