It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Or over a base wavy of Vert and Argent, a fish Gules, in dexter chief a knife Gules framed by two wreaths of palm Vert, in sinister chief a heraldic fountain. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in lack upper case letters "PECHÃO - OLHÃO".
Meaning:
The knife is an attribute of St. Bartholomew, the local patron saint. The fish is a canting element, the base wavy is referring to the Atlantic. Flag and arms were designed by Luís Moreira.

Pechão is one of the five communes and of the three boroughs (urban communes) of Olhão Municipality. It had 3 601 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 20,31 km².
