Shield Or, a cork oak eradicated Vert, peeled and fruited Gules, flanked by two paly axes Gules bladed Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "S. MATIAS - NISA".

São Matias Commune is one of the seven communes of the Nisa municipality (q.v.); it had 289 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 54.5 km².
