It is a fairly typical Portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quarterly (meaning town rank) of yellow and green field.

The coat of arms is argent above a bush crowned vert trunked sable and fruited or a St. James sword-cross purple between two bunches of grapes fruited of the same and leaved of the first. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE MOITA".
Meaning:
"Moita" means "bush" in Portuguese thus these being canting arms.

Moita municipality had 67 485 inhabitants in 2000 (66 840 in 1990), and it is divided in 6 communes, covering 55 km². It belongs to the District of Setúbal, to the old province Estremadura and to the would-be region Lisboa e Setúbal.
