It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of white and green.

Shield Vert with base wavy of Argent and Azure, a porticus Argent masoned Sable, in chief a grapevine Or leaved Argent flanked by two trouts affronty Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE MONÇÃO E TROVISCOSO".
Meaning:
The porticus is taken from the arms of former Monção commune, trouts and grapevine from the arms of former Troviscoco commune.
