It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Shield Or, a saw Gules emphasized Sable per pale, in chief two bunches of grapes Purpure leaved Vert, issuant from base a mound of two coupeaux Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "GRIJÓ - MACEDO DE
CAVALEIROS".
Meaning:
The saw is likely to refer to the local barrelmaking tradition. The mound is standing for the mountain range Serra de Bornes. The symbolism of the other charges is trivial.
