It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and yellow.

Shield Or, a boat Azure seen from prow, garnished Argent and Gules with stem and oars Sable, flanked by two corn plants Vert, in central chief a plumb line Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "QUIAIOS".
