Shield Argent, a lance paly Gules crowned by a swallow tail pennant Azure and tied Gules together with two plants of sugar cane and two stalks of wheat. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "CANELAS - ESTARREJA".

Shield Vert divided by a fess wavy Azure fimbriated Argent, in central chief scales Or and a sword flamy Or bladed Argent, in base a duck Argent armed Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers and white scroll with inscription in black initials "FERMELÃ - ESTARREJA" "" (village rank)
Meaning:
Sword and scales are attributes of St. Michael, the local patron saint, the bar wavy is representing the lagoons of Lower Vouga and Adem, the duck is representing a local species living in the lagoons.
