Terrugem Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Elvas Municipality; it had 1251 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 72.7 km².

Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "VILA BOIM".
Meaning:
The Paschal Lamb is an attribute of St. John the Baptist, the local patron saint.
