It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Shield Gules, a pit-lamp Argent, at dexter chief a hexagon Argent, at sinister chief a chestnut Or, in base a wolf passant Or tongued Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "S. JORGE DA BEIRA".
Meaning:
The commune even today is home of packs of wolves. Chestnuts are representing the many local chestnut trees and the importance of chestnuts for nutrition in the past. The lamp and the hexagon are representing mining, especially the reduction of tungsten, tin and minerals, the latter alluding to quartz crystals and "German diamonds".

São Jorge da Beira Commune is one of the 21 communes of the Covilhã municipality (q.v.); it had 633 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 23.1 km².
