It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain dark blue field.

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, two durmasts Vert fruited Sable ordered per fess, in chief a waning moon crescent Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "AZINHAL - CASTRO MARIM".
Meaning:
The crescent is representing the rules of the Moors from 8th til 13th century. The durmasts (Port: azinheiras) are representing the natural landscape and are also canting elements. The base wavy is representing the little local river Beliche.

Azinhal Commune is one of the 14 communes of the Castro Marim municipality (q.v.); it had 522 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 7.7 km².
