It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Argent, a horse passant Purpure between a rice ear and an oak branch, both Vert crossed per saltire, in chief a Latin cross fleury Vert. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "FREGUESIA DE BENAVENTE".
Meaning:
The cross fleury is representing the Order of Avis. The horse is representing horse breading in the commune. Rice and oak are representing agriculture as main business line.
