It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a red and white quartered field.

The arms are Gules on a martyrdom grill Argent, superimposed by a bendy pen Or and flanked in chief by two grape bunches Purpure leaved Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading "ARRANHÓ" in black upper case letters.
Meaning:
"Arranhó" is an unclear cognate of "arranhar", "to scratch", so the arms might be thought to be partly punning, but the grill is just for St. Laurence, the patron of the Catholic parish this commune derived from and is conterminous of.

Arranhó Commune is one of the four communes of Arruda dos Vinhos Municipality (q.v.); it had 2495 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 21,23 km².
