It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain celestial blue field.

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a crescent recumbent Sable between two storks vigilant Azure armed Gules and both standing on rocks Sable, in chief a dragon Gules. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALQUERUBIM".
Meaning:
The dragon is one of the attributes of Saint Marina the Great Martyr, the local patron saint and is symbolizing the recapture (reconquista) and re-Christianization of Portugal. The crescent is symbolizing the Moorish occupation and is alluding to the Arab name of the commune, which means "Lands of the Kin". The storks are representing the local fauna, storks are very common in the region. The base wavy is representing Vouga River, the border of the commune and an important factor of the local development. The mural crown is signifying the commune as a town, which had been seat of a municipality until the middle of the 19th century.

Alquerubim Commune is one of the six communes of the Albergaria-a-Velha municipality (q.v.); it had 2381 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 15.4 km².
