Cós Commune (formerly spelled "Coz") was one of the pre-2013 communes of Alcobaça Municipality (q.v.); it had 1895 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 15.9 km².

Meaning:
The cross is alluding to the knights' Order of Avis.

Shield Azure, in base two mountains issuant Or, superimposed by a Cistercian bend (chequered of Gules and Argent), in sinister chief a Latin cross fleury Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "MONTES".
Meaning:
The mountains (Port.: montes) are canting elements. The bend is alluding to the Cistercian monastery in Alcobaça, the cross to the knights' Order of Avis.
