The second major trade union confederation in
Portugal is União Geral de Trabalhores (UGT - General Worker’s
Union) and was born in 1975 from a fraction in
CGTP-IN that included unions connected with the
Socialist and
Social-Democratic parties. (Interestingly, and
despite these being the two major parties in Portugal, UGT remained smaller
than CGTP to this day.)

UGT has its symbols defined in its statutes, to be found at www.depp.msst.gov.pt/cict/bte/s1/00/31/31_15.html (my translation):
Article 2.
Sigla and symbolsThe General Worker’s Union adopts the sigla UGT and has as symbol two shaking right hands, with the back of one of them overlapping the palm of the other one, over in a background bordered black.
Article 3.
Flag and hymn1 - The flag of UGT is composed by a red rectangle that contains in its center, in relief, the symbol, above which, also in relief, lies the sigla, in black. Below the symbol will be the expression «Portugal» and, for the length of the rectangle, in white, the designation «União Geral de Trabalhadores».
