This pueblo seems to be an important place to the Taino people
(the original inhabitants of Boriken (Puerto Rico). Morovis, also
known as 'La Isla menos Morovis' is in north central Puerto Rico,
35 km. southwest of San Juan. It was founded in 1818 and there
are 26,516 inh.

Morovis - In a very curious arrangement, the eagle head in the
flag is turned hoist-ward ("diestra" - to the right
wing) 'in this case'. The eagle looks to its left wing in the
shield. No explanation given to this unless we conclude that, in
flag design, things should point to the hoist to indicate its
obverse arrangement and to the fly in its reverse side.

"The eagle is the symbol of St. John evangelist and are
canting for the founder of the town, Don Juan Evangelista Rivera.
The four violins symbolise that the town is the main center of
the production of the typical Puerto Rican violin. There are also
many people playing these violins in the town. The escutcheon
shows the arms of the Order of the Carmelites, and are a symbol
for the St. Mary (La Virgen de Carmel), the patron saint of the
town."
