The flag of Łobez commune consists of three parallel bands of equal width: yellow, green and red. In the upper corner, just beside the staff, there is the town's Coat of Arms. The Coat of Arms of the town and the commune shows an image of a crowned wolf taken over from the coat of arms of the Borko family, former owners of the town. The name of the town comes from the river on which it is situated, i.e. the word "Laba". It used to refer to all what was flowing or liquid. According to another theory, the name "Łobez" was derived from the Slavonic word "lobose" meaning a swampy and wet place grown with rushes called "łabuź". In both cases the meaning of the name "Łobez" refers to "a place on water". The town and the commune Łobez are situated in the middle pan of zachodniopomorskie province, in the Łobez county, at the railway line Szczecin - Gdańsk. It lies about 100 km from Szczecin, and 60 km from Stargard Szczeciński. It covers 228 km² and is inhabited by over 15,000 people.
