Drohiczyn commune flag

Drohiczyn - rural commune, Siemiatycze County, Podlaskie Voivodship
Drohiczyn lay astride a trade route between Ukraine and Poland, and in the 13th century was a part of the principality of Volhynia.
It was annexed by Galicia in 1238. In 1253, Prince Danylo of Galicia was crowned by a papal representative in Drohiczyn.
The town changed hands multiple times during the medieval wars between Poland and Lithuania.
In 1443 it was a Lithuanian domain, and from 1569 belonged to Poland.

I spend a month there in 1962 participating in the ethnographic research of the area to fill the blanks in the Ethnographic Atlas of Poland.
Fascinating town and surrounding villages - remnants of Jewish presence, Eastern Orthodox and Catholic churches and traces of Muslim Tatar influence.
And breathtaking scenery from the hills overlooking the Bug River.

New Arms and a brand new flag adopted on March 14, 2008 (resolution # XII/91/08).
"Arms: the brown wisent on yellow background above the combined old Coat of Armss of Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Kingdom of Poland, on red.
Flag: rectangular piece of white cloth in the ratio of 3:2 with the Arms placed centrally."
