Established as a village in the 13th Century.
New Arms and a brand new flag adopted on June 3,2008 after the positive opinion of the Heraldic Commission in Warsaw and the approval by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.
"Arms: symbolism is related to the history of the region.
The barrel is to remind the work of pitch-burners, the axe - work of
lumberjacks.
The forested character of the commune is further stressed by a branch
of the oak tree.
Flag: two vertical yellow fields separated by the red stripe.
On the field next to the hoist the Arms are placed."
