history: see Brodnica county.
It has a football (soccer) club - "Sparta" Brodnica.
Arms, dated back to 14th century, feature an open hand (silver - white)
on the red shield.
It is a symbol of hospitality, goodwill and the rule of Law.
Flag: adopted in 1998 on the 700th Anniversary of the city, during
the Jubilee celebrations.
Dominant colors are white and red and there is a narrow blue stripe
symbolizing the river Drweca flowing through the town.
The flag was designed by the graphic artist, Ms.Maria Melnicka.
