Lubin city flag

Lubin is c. 60 km northwest of Wrocław, in Lubin county. It was first mentioned in 1267. Lubin has an over 700-year-long history. The City covers 40.81 km2. Lubin has a population of 82,400. Lubin is one of the warmest cities in Poland. Lubin avails of a city transportation control system based on the American Military NAVSTAR System. In 1997, Pope John Paul II became an Honorary Resident of Lubin. Hof, Bad-Ems and Böbligen are the names of Lubin's twin cities. Lubin is called the City of Polish Copper. The local KGHM Polska Miedź SA is the largest producer of copper in Europe and fifth largest in the world.
