Universidad ESAN originates in ESAN, established in 1963 under the aegis of Stanford University, as the first Spanish-speaking School of Commerce. The first Internet connection in Peru was established in 1981 at the Monterricao campus of ESAN; in 1991, ESAN sent the first international Peruvian email.

The flag of UE is a white horizontal background featuring the University's emblem (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ESAN.svg) in the middle, and surrounding it, on top, it reads "UNIVERSIDAD ESAN" and below "LIMA MCMLXIII (Roman Numerals for 1963, foundation date) as seen here (second flag from left to right, and desktop flag):
