units from hoist and the yellow letters BBBC quarterly.
"Broad Bay Boating
Club was established in 1923. By this time Broad Bay had become a well
established holiday spot on the ferry route from Dunedin. The bay was also a
popular sailing and boating destination. Hosting the annual Broad Bay Regatta
from the early 1900s where already established sailing & boating clubs from
Dunedin would race to Broad Bay.
Early prominent Dunedin names such as
Speight, Hanlon, Sommerville and Nees were active sailors and founding club
committee members."
