Many of the images in this series are drawn from articles in The Log by the
late Bob Tompkins, as was the series I earlier sent on Australian companies. Bob
and I were thinking of associating in publishing the records of Athol Kirk of
Wanganui who had researched NZ companies for 40 years but died before he could
publish. His records may have included other companies of which we are not aware
but unfortunately, as is common in such situations, the research tends to
subsequently be hard to locate. The article in Sea Breezes by Louis Loughran,
keeper of the World Ship Society livery records and to me the No. 1 in this
field, has helped and there are a few of my own additions.
