Late last year I was travelling through the small NZ town of Lawrence, when I noticed a flag I hadn't seen before. Unfortunately, I didn't see it clearly enough to get much in the way of details apart from the word Clutha, an orange hand, and a blue background.
I've just found an image of the flag on a website. It appears to be
the (probably unofficial) flag of “Clutha Country” - a name being
used for tourism purposes for the area around the lower reaches of
the Clutha River and nearby towns. The main town in the area is
Balclutha (population 4000) - there's full details about the area on
the website. The flag design is in the website's
top left corner and shows an orange hand with a blue road leading
into it.
